Cannabis plants were found inside a house where a severe fire broke out last night.
The ground floor of the property had completely gone up in flames by the time firefighters arrived in St James Lane in Willenhall.
A number of 999 calls had been made about the fire at around 9.30pm last night (Sunday, March 29).
Once inside, six firefighters searched the property for signs of anyone inside and found no-one.
They put out the flames within three minutes.
West Midlands Police officers then discovered 30 cannabis plants inside the property, which will now be destroyed.
Crews from Binley were sent out to lead the operation, with an engine from Coventry station sent as back-up.
The crews remained at the scene until around 1am this morning making sure the property safe.
A tweet by West Midlands Fire Service said the tampered electrics put the fire fighters at risk.
Watch Commander Mullen from Binley fire station said: “At 9.39 last night we had reports of a house fire.
“We arrived and found the ground floor of the house in flames and at the time it was unknown if there was anyone in the property.
“To search, we sent three pairs of two. Luckily, there was nobody in the building.
“We were there until about 1am this morning.”
